Canadian Family

The Long Version of Our History

Soul's Notes (TL;DR): We are proudly Canadian and are committed to making that the foundation of our business. When you purchase our greeting cards, you are truly supporting a small family business right here in Canada.

I am a first-generation Canadian and the only child of two amazingly hard-working and entrepreneurial parents. They chose to immigrate to Canada in the early 90s because they knew it would bring more opportunity, freedom, and support than ever before in our shared experience.

Winter at Niagara Falls
Yep, that's me.

Not to sound political, but we are so proudly Canadian because we know what we came from and what we have now. We feel absolutely blessed to call this country home because we are so free to be who we are while being supported in our individual ambitions. This is no exaggeration on my part, I speak to my parents almost daily and at least once a week, like clockwork, we just work "Canada is the best country," into our conversation. We are so grateful and humbled to be Canadian citizens.

Growing Up in Canada
Our little family.

Yes, we have a long way to go for Truth and Reconciliation, and of course, our country unfortunately does have a dark history, but for me sitting at home in my PJs with a cat on my lap, knowing that I have a roof over my head, food in my fridge, and I don't have to wake up every morning worrying about war or strife -- I am indeed lucky to be Canadian.

As such, it was very important for me to start our small business with the goal of sourcing everything as close to home as possible. Because I am so strict about sustainability, it's been a challenge using such tight criteria to source cards and packaging, but one I am willing to take on. Thankfully, Canada is full of other like-minded entrepreneurs and I'm glad to see there is so much innovation here in the north.

So, as the title suggests, the long version of our company's short history is that we are proudly Canadian and are committed to making that the foundation of our business.

When you purchase our greeting cards, you are literally supporting a small family business right here in Canada. No big store here, just three people (mom, dad, and grown child, haha!) trying to bring art and a means of connection to the world.

And for all my lovely international readers, my family has never forgotten its origins and we have been fortunate enough to call ourselves avid travelers, so we will be showcasing the beauty of other parts of the world in future collections!

Thank you for choosing Soulful Greetings as your source for greeting cards. I know there are a huge number of options out there, but I sincerely believe our cards are made with heart and speak to the soul. We are grateful for your patronage.
